How does the High Speed Internet Connection work?  The following diagram will help in explaining our new system to you.

1. A user  on a PC network (LAN) or a user at home simply "clicks" an email or web page request  (message) off to the internet.

2. The request is sent via your modem to our servers in Urbana, but with a special  "return address", to the Network Operations Center of our satellite provider.

3. After  retrieving the Web page, the request is routed from the Internet onto the Satellite uplink by our satellite provider.

4. The uplink sends  the returning message to the Dish which is attached to your computer or to your LAN at a speed that is 30x - 100xx faster than your modem.

The overall result is an average connection speed that is 20x - 50x faster that a modem-only connection. This represents a significant improvement in your internet performance and should make your sufing much more enjoyable.

Equipment Requirements

You will need a satellite dish and modem that is installed in your existing PC.  The PC must be a Pentium class machine with a minimum of 64 MB of memory installed and a free PCI slot. The satellite kit includes the dish, mounting bracket, LNA, coax and satellite modem card. Assistance is available for installation.
