Don Barry attended and graduated from old Washington High School with Grant Wood. The two had a metal shop in the 1818 house basement. Grant painted a picture for John W. Barry and his wife Ruth Anna. John W. Barry was the author of "The Lumberman's Actuary " an early magazine.
