A granite rock and inscribed plaque, a tribute to Grant Wood, was dedicated by Park Rinard, Grant Wood's secretary, on October 10, 1993. This rock is located in Daniels Park south of H Avenue and east of Oakland Road in the northeast side of Cedar Rapids. Park Rinard came back on May 28, 1995 for a dedication for Marvin Cone of a large block of limestone from Stone City and a plaque. Bob Kocher and the Marvin Cone Club with C.R. Park's commissioner Dave Kramer dedicated the monument. Weber Stone Company of Stone City graciously donated the limestone. Marvin Cone and Grant Wood taught here in Stone City in 1932 and 1933 at the Art Colony. Marvin Cone and Grant Wood were friends and neighbors.
