This corner house belonged to Austin N. Palmer. He lived here from 1904 until 1908 when he moved to New York. Mr. Palmer ran a business college but is now better known for the Palmer Handwriting method, one with numerous loops and swirls. Grant Wood painted four pictures of the evolution of hand writing for the 1934 Chicago World's Fair.
